School Uniform

All students are to arrive at school, and leave from school, in their full Shelly Park School uniform, including footwear.

All students to wear black sandals with black only soles in summer and closed black school shoes with black only soles in winter - Stomp on Wellington Street in Howick offers a 10% discount.

Navy socks or navy stockings are to be worn in the winter months (Term 2 and 3).

The correct school uniform is to be worn clean, neat and tidy.

Thermals should NOT be visible under the school uniform.

Students are encouraged to take pride in their uniform and to wear it well.

Hair is to be off the face, tied back if longer than the bottom of the collar, and be the natural hair colour.

Hair accessories are to be navy, jade, black or white.

Nail polish and cosmetics are not permitted.

Variations in relation to the Human Rights Act may be negotiated with the Principal.

Second hand uniforms may be available. Please see the noticeboard outside the School Office or the website for details.

All garments must be clearly named.

When representing the school or for senior school graduation it is compulsory for school tunic to be worn

Items of jewellery can be easily lost or damaged at school. They may also cause injury to the wearer or other students. For safety reasons these are not to be worn. The school accepts no responsibility in the case of loss, damage or injury.

• One small earring stud per ear.
• A watch.
• A necklace of religious or cultural significance - to be worn underneath clothing.
• A Medical Identification Tag as required.

During the summer (Terms 1 & 4), all pupils are encouraged to put on sunscreen at home before school and expected to wear the regulation school hat while outdoors. Our Sun Sense policy is: No hat – stay in the shade.
